Hong Kong · Family Financial Courses
Some conversations
are worth preparing for.
Courses for parents in their 40s, 50s, and 60s who want to talk about money with their adult children — thoughtfully, and at the right moment.
Three courses, one shared purpose
Each programme addresses a distinct stage in the parent–adult-child relationship. You choose where your family is right now.
Talking About Money with Adult Children
4-week course
For parents who want to open more considered conversations about expectations and plans — recognising that a 22-year-old and a 35-year-old call for different approaches.
- Frameworks for different life stages
- Opening difficult topics with care
- Practical without being prescriptive
Preparing the Next Generation
6-week programme
For parents helping adult children build financial capability — covering what to share and when, handling gifts and loans within the family, and helping without crowding out their own decision-making.
- Gifts, loans, and unintended consequences
- Building capability without dependency
- Timing your financial conversations
Full Family Financial Conversation Programme
10-week programme
For midlife parents establishing a rhythm of family financial conversations over the long years ahead — covering estate plans, care expectations, family meetings, and the written documents that support open dialogue.
- Progressive disclosure of estate plans
- Family meetings vs individual talks
- Care expectations and long-term planning
What makes these courses different
Designed for families, not financial advisers. The focus is on the conversation, not the numbers.
Conversation-first design
Every module begins with a conversation framework rather than a financial calculation. The aim is to help words find their moment, not to produce a spreadsheet.
Paced for real life
Weekly modules with optional reading between sessions. No expectation of large blocks of time. Each session is designed to leave you with one clear thing to try.
Built for Hong Kong families
Scenarios and examples drawn from HK contexts — multigenerational households, property, and the particular pressures that midlife parents here tend to navigate.
No financial advice given
We are educators, not advisers. This distinction matters: you are free to explore ideas without any commercial interest in the choices you make.
Written resources included
Each course includes a companion workbook and a set of conversation-starter cards — tangible materials you can return to long after the programme ends.
Small group learning
Cohorts are kept deliberately small so that participants can share openly. You will hear from other families working through similar conversations — which is often the most valuable part.
Not sure which course fits your situation?
A short conversation is usually enough to work out where to begin. Reach out and we will take it from there.
Questions people often ask first
Do I need to know much about finance to take a course?
No financial background is needed. The courses focus on how to hold conversations, not on investment strategies or tax planning. You will not be asked to calculate anything.
My adult child is in their 30s — is that too old for these programmes?
Not at all. The conversations that matter most often happen when adult children are in their 30s — when they are beginning to think about property, their own families, and eventually their parents' later years. The courses address multiple life stages.
Are courses held in person or online?
We offer both. In-person sessions take place at our Wan Chai office and tend to suit participants who value the group setting. Online cohorts follow the same format and tend to attract participants from across Hong Kong who find the timing more practical.
How much time does each programme require each week?
Most participants find two to three hours per week is enough — one session plus some reading if you choose to do it. The material is designed for people who work full-time and have existing family commitments.
Do I need to involve my adult child in the programme?
No. These programmes are for parents only. The goal is to prepare you for conversations you will then have in your own way, in your own time. Some participants find it helpful to share workbook materials with their children; others prefer to keep that separate.
Is there a refund policy?
A full refund is available up to seven days before the course begins. After that, we offer a transfer to a later cohort. Please see our Terms & Conditions for details.
